Katoll's means quality construction:

I use top quality fabrics all of which must possess a reasonable about of stretch. I usually address the amount of stretch in the item descriptions.

All of my seam allowances are generous to allow for the dreaded possibility of weight gain (how sad to have that beloved jacket become too tight simply because we love cheesecake!).

When designs with a “banding” feature wrap around a waist or arm, they meet at the seam rather than cross over the seam. This allows these seams to be let out if needed.

Often a hidden tuck will exist under cuffs, which can be let down to lengthen sleeves.

To prevent gaping at the zipper tops in jackets with lapels, a hidden Velcro tab exists.

Unless otherwise noted, cuffs are attached. Removable cuffs are available upon request.

When front facings are leather (as seen in jackets with leather lapels) the facings are usually left floating. This allows a better degree of stretch than if they were stitched down. Sheer fabric and all-leather jackets are always lined.

Leather appliques are securely stitched, after glueing, with threads knotted on reverse side of fabric to discourage any “lift” at edges

Collars are secured with hidden velcro.

A word about crystals and rhinestones...

I am an expert when it comes to selecting your embellishment!

Swarovski crystals look best at a distance of four feet or less. Czech Preciosa crystals look best beyond the four- foot mark. Since I want my creations to look beautiful from any distance, I often combine both crystal manufacturers in my designs to get the best look possible.

Some designers will only use Swarovski. This is fine if the judge will be standing VERY close. I believe that using the best tools for the job will result in a better product in the end. Checking out Rhinestoneguy.com will provide some interesting reading regarding this discussion.

If I decide to glue rhinestones in place, I use a very secure glue and provide extras in case of loss. There is nothing wrong with glue and some very high-end western show clothes designers attach gems exclusively with glue. If the gems are large enough to be of concern, they are sewn on or rim-set. Rim-setting is VERY time consuming and will result in a higher priced garment.

My philosophy is that there is a time and place for each method of application. As far as quantity of crystal rhinestones - my Western jackets and shirts usually contain HUNDREDS of rhinestones – so many that I’ve rarely been able to count them all without losing count!

Feel free to contact me at any time to discuss which types of embellishment would work best for you!
